Double Crochet Stitch

The Double Crochet stitch gives you speed and height to your projects.

Let's just jump into how to do a double crochet stitch.

The Basic Instructions

  1. Yarn over the hook.
  2. Insert the hook into the stitch on the row/round below the current position.
  3. Grab the working yarn with the hook and pull through to make another loop on the hook.
  4. Yarn over the hook and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook.
  5. Yarn over the hook and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.

A Little More Info

When starting at the beginning of a row/round, a double crochet stitch (dc) needs 2 or 3 chains to give your row the correct height. I just started using a chainless starting double crochet for the beginning of rows, and with more practice, I feel it might give me a better/straighter edge.
