Half Double Crochet Stitch

The Half Double Crochet stitch is more than a single crochet, but less than a double.

Let's just jump into how to do a half double crochet stitch.

The Basic Instructions

  1. Yarn over the hook.
  2. Insert the hook into the stitch on the row/round below the current position.
  3. Grab the working yarn with the hook and pull through to make another loop on the hook.
  4. Yarn over the hook and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

A Little More Info

When starting at the beginning of a row/round, a half double crochet stitch (hdc) needs 2 chains to give your row the correct height.
